WIP Limit

Definition

The maximum number of tasks allowed in a workflow stage at the same time. For example, capping In Progress at three items so the team finishes work before starting more.

Why It Matters

WIP limits reduce context switching and expose bottlenecks that busy teams otherwise learn to live with.
