Notion is built for internal docs and wikis — flexible databases, team handbooks, and knowledge bases. Many Notion workspaces are ops and product teams documenting process, not agencies billing clients by the hour.
If you deliver client work and care about margins, CRM, and invoicing, these five tools fit a different job than Notion. For a head-to-head feature table, see our Corcava vs Notion comparison.
The five alternatives
1. Corcava
Built for teams that sell hours and deliver projects: CRM deals become projects, time rolls into invoices, and Project Finances tracks client vs team cashflow. Lighter than building a Notion ops stack, stronger on the revenue side than doc-first tools.
Typical buyer: 5–50 person agency or consultancy also using PSA-style workflows.
2. ClickUp
Closest to Notion’s “everything workspace” pitch with stronger native PM: docs, whiteboards, goals, and time tracking in one subscription. Service businesses still assemble CRM and invoicing separately.
3. Monday.com
Highly visual boards and automations. Agencies often run client work here but still connect invoicing and CRM elsewhere. Good when templates matter more than native billing.
4. Teamwork.com
Agency-native PM with time tracking and billing features closer to client delivery than Notion’s internal-docs default. Compare carefully on CRM depth and margin reporting.
5. Coda
Notion’s closest cousin for internal ops: docs that behave like apps, with formulas and automations. Strong for process documentation; client revenue workflows still need bolt-ons.
