Trello is built for simple kanban — drag cards, set due dates, add checklists. Many Trello buyers are small teams and personal productivity users, not agencies billing clients by the hour.
If you deliver client work and care about margins, CRM, and invoicing, these five tools fit a different job than Trello’s card-and-board model. For a head-to-head feature table, see our Corcava vs Trello comparison.
The five alternatives
1. Corcava
Built for teams that sell hours and deliver projects: CRM deals become projects, time rolls into invoices, and Project Finances tracks client vs team cashflow. More structure than Trello cards, with the revenue side native instead of Power-Up patched.
Typical buyer: 5–50 person agency or consultancy also using PSA-style workflows.
2. Asana
Timeline views, dependencies, and workflow rules for teams that outgrew Trello’s kanban ceiling. Still PM-only — CRM and invoicing require the same bolt-on stack Trello users already tolerate.
3. Monday.com
Visual boards with more native views than Trello — timeline, Gantt, and automations without Power-Ups. Agencies often run client work here but still connect invoicing and CRM elsewhere.
4. ClickUp
Maximum PM feature surface when Trello’s simplicity becomes a constraint. Lists, Gantt, docs, and time fields in one subscription — service businesses still assemble the client-revenue workflow themselves.
5. Teamwork.com
Agency-native PM with time tracking and billing features closer to client delivery than Trello’s card model. A direct upgrade path when Trello + Power-Ups + Harvest feels like three logins for one client.
