Corcava MCP Quickstart: 5-Minute Setup and First Automated Workflow
Get your AI assistant connected to Corcava in 5 minutes. This quickstart covers the essentials: API key, configuration, verification, and three starter prompts to get you working immediately.
Step 1: Get Your API Key (1 minute)
- Log in to Corcava
- Go to Settings → Integrations
- Find the Public API section
- Click Add API Key
- Copy the key immediately (it's only shown once)
💡 Tip
Name your key descriptively (e.g., "Claude Desktop - MacBook") so you can manage multiple keys easily.
Step 2: Add MCP Server to Your Client (2 minutes)

Universal Configuration
All clients need these settings:
Endpoint URL:

Authorization Header:
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY
Important: Replace YOUR_API_KEY with the key you copied in Step 1.

Step 3: Restart and Verify (1 minute)
- Save your configuration file (if editing a file)
- Completely restart your AI client (required for changes to take effect)
- Wait for the client to initialize
Verify Tools Are Available
Ask your AI assistant:
"What MCP tools are available from Corcava?"
You should see tools like list_tasks, create_task, start_time_tracking, etc.
Step 4: Try Three Starter Prompts (1 minute)
Now that everything is connected, try these prompts:
1. Weekly Plan
Prompt:
What happens: AI lists your tasks, identifies blockers, and suggests priorities.
2. Create Follow-Up Task
Prompt:
What happens: AI shows you the task details, asks for confirmation, then creates it.
3. Start Time Tracking
Prompt:
What happens: AI finds the task and starts a timer in Corcava.
Troubleshooting
If something doesn't work:
Tools Not Showing Up?
- Did you fully restart the client? (not just save the file)
- Check your API key is correct
- Verify the endpoint URL is exactly:
https://app.corcava.com/mcp
401 Unauthorized Error?
- Check the Authorization header format:
Bearer YOUR_API_KEY(with space) - Verify the API key is active in Corcava
- Check for trailing whitespace when copying the key
Connection Failed?
- Verify your internet connection
- Check if
